The Clock starts ticking . . .

Hiyo! Fabulous in Hanoi is all a-crazy preparing and packing stuff for a trip of a lifetime to India – meditation, vegetarian food, sandy beaches, the sound of the sea in your dreams and your waking moments, cars and buses that travel no faster than 40 km per hour, cow dung on your footpath, shaking heads of Indian people you address to say yes or no, lots of gemstones and other great stuff to buy and the unbearable, humid and skin-scorching heat of summer!!

Yah, its a great life! The office is going crazy with my departure – no one to laugh hilariously to disturb the usual silent-as-a-tomb atmosphere here. No crazy farang (Thai word for “foreigner) to bother our ever-patient receptionist about the next sachet of coffee she obviously has to have every morning, lah!

Looking over my little cabin bag suitcase (I refuse to travel with my clothes in a backpack), I wonder how I’m going to manage to drag this along the streets of Calcutta or in the railroad station. Still, this is no first time for me traveling in the subcontinent. I managed to traverse the whole length of India – from the northern town of Rishikesh and in the southern town of Chidambaram – with my ever dependable red and blue Polo cabin suitcase.

Now isn’t that a FANTABULOUS way of traveling?
